Our history

Speirs Finance began in Palmerston North in 1964, providing asset finance and funding solutions to local businesses, equipment traders & vehicle dealers. The company philosophy back then, as it is today, was to understand customers better. Keeping it real for customers and providing tailored, simple and accessible funding solutions. Enabling better business & building long-term partnerships.

Drawing together the best and the brightest, our incredibly experienced team have worked in the largest Corporate Banks & Finance companies in the country. They have extensive knowledge and experience across the construction, earthmoving, transport, forestry, warehousing and agriculture industries. We are a team united by our belief in a hands-on, consultative approach and the desire to work alongside and in partnership with our customers.

An accomplished and respected GM, Sam puts his skills to great use managing the day-to-day running of Speirs Finance. His sound industry experience and refreshingly hands-on approach are critical and much appreciated by all of our key customers.

Nathan Bradshaw

Head of Lending and Risk

As a highly experienced lender himself, Nathan uses his knowledge, leadership skills and insights to lead our exceptional team of Lending Risk Managers - the team responsible for delivering credit decisions right across our business.

Sam Bailey

Commercial Manager - Agent Network

Sam is an experienced business and people leader having managed teams and businesses across the corporate, government, and SME sectors. His asset lending and fleet management experience coupled with his “getting under the bonnet” approach to business strategy assists him in providing tailored lending solutions to help business access their potential and provide support to the agent network throughout the country.

Phil Herbert

Commercial Manager - Agent Network

With a demonstrated history in the financial services industry, and a strong professional sales background, Phil’s experience means he is perfectly positioned to manage our nationwide network of experienced and self-employed Asset Finance professionals. As Commercial Manager of our Agent Network, Phil manages the team that can help you make sound decisions when funding assets.

Mardi Pritchard

Commercial Manager - Lower North Island

Mardi’s vast experience in civil contracting, forestry and earthmoving gives him a unique ability to really connect with Speirs’ customers. As Commercial Manager for the Lower North Island, he loves being out and about, working in partnership with customers and ensuring he knows what they, and their businesses, need to thrive.

John Crawley

Commercial Manager - Upper South Island

A highly respected name in the industry, John ‘JC’ Crawley has a successful 45-year career in finance and is active across several industry groups in the civil contracting, quarrying and mining sectors. As Commercial Manager for the Upper South Island, JC has a strong passion for helping his clients achieve their goals.

Dwayne McLellan

Commercial Manager - Southland & Otago

Dwayne is a highly experienced lender, with extensive experience in corporate banking and finance. This experience, combined with a sales background in heavy equipment, gives him an expansive and hands-on understanding of customers' requirements, vital for his role as Commercial Manager for Southland & Otago.

Aarti puts her finance industry experience to great use, working closely with, and supporting all our Commercial Managers. As our Commercial Assistant, she’s always on the ball, ensuring that our customers enjoy quick turnarounds and speedy responses to their requests.

Administration Officer - Agent Network

With a broad range of experience across banking, travel, insurance, finance and office management, Trish is our valued Administration Officer for our Agent Network. Her day-to-day role includes providing key support and managing the collections for our nationwide network of experienced and self-employed Asset Finance professionals.

With over a decade of experience as a marketing and advertising professional Katrina has developed successful marketing strategies and advertising campaigns for a vast range of NZ businesses.
